About Warrnambool and District Foodshare

Who are we?

Warrnambool & District Food Share Inc. forms part of a network of Food Shares across the state that have been created, facilitated and supported by Foodbank Victoria.

We are managed by a voluntary Board of Directors who employ a part-time Executive Officer to run the Food Share service with our partner welfare agencies that provide the emergency relief to vulnerable people and families across south west Victoria.

What do we do?

Each weekday, our volunteers collect food donations from supermarkets and other food shops. Donated food is made into Hampers for welfare agencies to distribute to organisations, families or individuals who require emergency food assistance. Food collected is healthy and nutritious and is either end of line, mislabelled, or overrun stock quite suitable for human consumption.

Partner agencies ring the Food Share Hotline. They collect freshly packed food hampers nd distribute them to people in critical need of emergency assistance for food relief )including those affectedly natural disasters).

Food is made available to the elderly, unemployed, low income and vulnerable families primarily.

Our Schools Fresh Program also offers fresh fruit to local schools for healthy eating programs, breakfast clubs, chaplaincy work etc.

We also provide food to two local churches who run a weekly free soup kitchen.
